Volunteers
Volunteers play an important role in the Northern Territory, bringing people from different walks of life together and building healthier and more vibrant communities. Over a third of all adults in the Territory have some sort of voluntary role. Volunteers work in many areas, including organisations relating to the environment, health, welfare, sport, recreation, education, human rights, arts, religion, community services and emergency services. The Northern Territory Government recognises the important role that volunteers play within our community which ultimately helps connect and develop stronger communities. We are committed to increasing volunteer participation rates from 35% to 50% as part of the Territory 2030 Strategy.
These web pages provide information to help you either get started as a volunteer, provide useful information for those of you already volunteering or who are involved with the volunteering sector.
