Major Projects, Asian Relations and Trade Division

The Major Projects, Asian Relations and Trade Division facilitates major economic and resource development projects, works to attract investment in the Territory, and promotes trade and business opportunities across Australia and throughout the wider Asian region.

The Division is responsible for coordination of Northern Territory Government involvement in major projects, as endorsed by Cabinet; facilitating the development of Timor Sea gas resources; developing the Territory’s long term relationships in the region; positioning Darwin as Australia’s Asian gateway; developing the AustralAsia Trade Route; promoting key trade relationships; and Territory investment attraction and marketing.

Current Divisional priorities include the development of gas industries in Darwin, new trade and shipping links with the Asian region, and developing Darwin as a tropical harbour city.

The Division works closely with the Department of Business and Employment.

The Division is led by Executive Director, Brian O’Gallagher.
