The Department of the Chief Minister is calling for expressions of interest for companies wishing to join a Northern Territory Government Trade Mission to Indonesia 19 – 21 June 2008 to participate in the 4th Balikpapan Mining & Petroleum Expo and join in meetings with local industry representatives.
Participants will be provided with:
Balikpapan, East Kalimantan is home to some of SE Asia’s largest mining and petroleum sites and the Expo will focus on service and supply opportunities to those industries and their sub-contractors.
Numbers are limited, so it is important to lodge your expression of interest early. Preference will be given to those entering this market for the first time. Participants may also be eligible for financial assistance under the Trade Support Scheme operated by the Northern Territory Government: www.tradesupport.nt.gov.au
The Balikpapan Expo was created following research among the Indonesian and International Mining, Oil and Gas business communities which revealed an overwhelming demand for a professionally organized Trade Exhibition to take place in Balikpapan City, which is globally recognized as a major “gateway and hub” for the Oil, Gas and Mining industries in SE Asia.
The Northern Territory Government hosted its 3rd Trade mission to this event in 2007 which included participants from: engineering firms, skills training providers, project construction firms, auto part suppliers and mining line boring services. Feedback from these companies indicated firm orders for products and services would arise as a result of their attendance at the event and would also include the potential to open representative offices in Indonesia to service future business demands.
