National Carbon Offset Standard Discussion Paper
The Australian Government released a National Carbon Offset Standard Discussion Paper on 19 December 2008. Submissions to the Discussion Paper closed 27 February 2009.
The Northern Territory joint submission to the Discussion Paper was a collaboration by the Northern Territory Government, North Australian Indigenous Land and Sea Management Alliance (NAILSMA) and the Northern Territory Cattlemen’s Association. The joint submission emphasises the stakeholders’ commitment to maximising environmental, economic and social outcomes from carbon market opportunities.

The Australian Government released its White Paper on the Carbon Pollution Reduction Scheme on 15 December 2008. The paper outlines the final design of the Carbon Pollution Reduction Scheme and the medium-term, target range for reducing carbon pollution.

The Garnaut Climate Change Review was commissioned by Australia's State and Territory Governments on 30 April 2007, and the final report was released by 30 September 2008.

Australia's Renewable Energy Target - Expanded National Renewable Energy Target Scheme - exposure draft legislation
Exposure draft legislation on the design of the expanded national Renewable Energy Target scheme was released in January 2009. Legislation to implement the expanded national Renewable Energy Target scheme will be in place by mid–2009.
