Safe and secure
The Department is responsible for a range of functions that contribute to the safety and security of the Northern Territory.
For example, we:
- Provide up-to-date information on the current security environment and counter terrorism
- Work with people who own and operate key facilities and infrastructure in the Northern Territory to ensure critical infrastructure protection
- Provide information on personal and business security
- Assist the community to return to normal after an emergency such as floods or a cyclone. The department has a major role in emergency recovery coordination.
We also contribute to major government initiatives in response to law and order issues such as youth crime and antisocial behaviour.
