Security. Australia continues to operate in a heightened security environment as a result of overseas events such as the 2005 London and Bali bombings and the 2007 bombing plots in London and Glasgow. The NT is closely linked and aligned with national arrangements and participates fully in efforts to strengthen counter terrorism capability and protect critical infrastructure. Further information is available on the Current Security Environment, Counter Terrorism and Critical Infrastructure Protection web pages.
Emergency Recovery Coordination. The NT is subject to a wide range of potential threats that could be potentially devastating, from floods to pandemics, from bushfires to cyclones. Assisting the community to return to normal after an emergency event may be a protracted and complex operation. The Department of the Chief Minister has a major coordinating role across Government and will assume responsibility for coordinating the longer term support to local communities and regions actively managing recovery. Further information is available on the Emergency Recovery Coordination web page.
