Regional cabinet visits

Cabinet periodically visits communities around the Territory, ranging from regional towns through to remote communities.

The Regional Cabinet Visit program enables Ministers to meet with people in communities right across the Territory and to discuss priority issues for those communities.

Visits are generally designed to focus on key issues for the relevant community.  Depending on the nature of the community’s issues, some or all Cabinet Ministers may be involved in each visit.

During Regional Cabinet Visits, Ministers meet with stakeholders including community leaders, business people, and community groups and organisations.  Ministers may also take the opportunity to visit government facilities such as schools, police stations, hospitals and health clinics.

Regional Cabinet Visits were put in place following the August 2008 Northern Territory General Election as a way for the new government to enhance its interaction with Territorians and to address issues directly with communities.
