Critical Infrastructure includes facilities, supply chains and networks that if rendered unavailable for any reason would have significant detrimental impact on the security of Australia or the social and economic well-being of its citizens. Critical Infrastructure Protection (CIP) is a significant part of the Government’s approach to keeping the NT community safe and secure. It requires strong cooperative partnerships between owners/operators and all levels of Government.
CIP involves the merging of a range of strategies and plans including protective security, crime prevention, business continuity and risk management, and emergency management to name a few. Further advice on CIP and national arrangements click here.
Trusted Information Sharing Network (TISN) Information sharing on security issues is an important way owners and operators can improve there own security and be better prepared. The TISN is a way for different Industry and Business sectors to share their concerns, experiences and information, and receive national updates. Click here for details of the TISN.
NT Arrangements. Responsibility for coordinating CIP strategies and information in the NT falls to both the NT Police Counter Terrorism Security Coordination Unit and the Department of the Chief Minister, Security and Emergency Recovery Unit. To provide an NT context for CIP a plan is being written that will give a framework and methodology for progressing CIP in a coordinated and effective manner. This plan is expected to be complete by June 2008 and will be available publicly on this web site.
