The Department of the Chief Minister develops frameworks to support the Government's policies, and seeks the views of Territorians and other stakeholders as part of that policy development process.
The Department works with agencies across government to develop and implement strategic and targeted interventions in key areas such as Indigenous governance, housing and infrastructure, health, education, safer communities and economic development.
Building on the Territory’s Diversity is the Northern Territory’s first Multicultural Policy for migrant and ethnic Territorians.
The Active Ageing Framework highlights what the Northern Territory Government has already achieved, identifies priorities that we will address over the next five years and includes ideas for community groups, organisations and businesses to assist people to age well.
The Domestic Violence Strategy is designed to address issues of importance to all Territorians. The Aboriginal Family Violence Strategy focuses on issues of importance to Aborigines, especially those living in remote and isolated localities.
The Northern Territory Government and Charles Darwin University signed a landmark Partnership Agreement in June 2003, with the aim of combining expertise and resources to foster Northern Territory development.
The Northern Territory Government and Batchelor Institute of Indigenous Tertiary Education signed another landmark Partnership Agreement in June 2007, to provide a framework for the two organisations to work together to improve the social and economic outcomes for Indigenous people in the Northern Territory.
