Chief Executive
Mike Burgess was appointed Chief Executive of the Department of the Chief Minister on 1 February 2008. Mike has pursued his professional career in the Northern Territory since 1979 in areas ranging from water supply, wastewater and electricity supply to sustainable natural resource management.
He has been involved in the development of major infrastructure and strategies to improve essential services in urban and remote areas of the Territory and has lived and worked in Darwin, Alice Springs and Katherine. He has previously held a number of senior positions including Chief Executive, Department of Business, Industry and Resource Development; Chief Executive, Department of Business, Economic and Regional Development; and Chief Executive, Department of Local Government, Housing and Sport.
Mike has also served on the boards of various NT authorities and research institutions, including the Darwin Port Corporation, the Major Events Company, the Conservation Land Corporation and the Tourism NT Advisory Board.
